The next day (today 4/22/2016) my cousin whom as all of us had permit to purchase/own asked me to make him company because he is a business owner in Eagan wanted to fill his application after all these years without renewing. Again the lady from the window comes after him asking for passport or any other document. All in a tense grinding attitude on her part. She even had the guts to tell him that he had an accent. Really? Southerners have accents, Texans have accents, folks from Brooklyn have accents, British and Aussies have accents. Ma'm you need to drop it down a few notches and take the time to learn some history while being more respectful. It was not only the questions, it was her attitude. She was treating the situation as a suspicious one. Crazy things are happening lately and if she wants to remain vigilant, be my guest. But please do so in a less conspicuous and friction-less way.

A week and a half later I returned for the same purpose with my wife. There she goes again asking the same senseless question or even a birth certificate if it was needed during the background check. I told her that Puerto Rico is US territory yet again.

Is this 911 or non emergency question

Could have been heard more by police officer

Only professionalism from these guys. Haven't witnessed any if the nonsense you see in other Metro departments. Keep it up AVPD!

Puerto Rico is a USA territory since 1898 and in 1917 Puertoricans became US citizens. You don't need a passport to travel to the island. Although not a state, it is a Commonwealth like DC. It would be as traveling to Hawaii. Learn your history and change your attitude.

I stopped by the station for the 1st time in all my 7+ years living in AV to fill out the permit to purchase a gun form. I'm Hispanic so I was quickly asked if I had a passport or green card. I told the lady on the desk that I was Puertorican and that we are citizens of the US hence we don't need either passport much less a green card.

I had a GREAT experience with Officer Keeler. I had a domestic with my husband and Adam was very caring to the issue. He also gave me a ride to a friends house so I could stay there ;) thank you AVPD
